Crianza is a designation for Rioja wines aged for at least 12 months. The vineyard producing Crianza Ecológico is over 65 years old, located at 600–800 m altitude within a biosphere reserve.

VINIFICATION AND AGING
Cold pre-fermentation maceration takes place in stainless-steel tanks at 5 °C. This is followed by fermentation at 25 °C for 10 days and 12 months of aging in new American and French oak barrels.

TASTE AND CHARACTER
Intense ruby color with a pomegranate hue. The nose offers raspberries, blackberries, cherries and coffee. The palate reveals cocoa, balsamic notes and candied red fruit.
SOMMELIER'S TIP
Pairs well with fattier dishes (meat, dry-aged steaks) and pasta, such as wild boar ragù.

Forcada is a family winery located in Rincón de Olivedo, a small village in the southeast of La Rioja. The winery lies within a biosphere reserve, an enclave in the Alcarama mountains where excellent soil and climate conditions contribute to the superb ripening of their practically organic grapes.
As early as 1910, Marcos Forcada inherited phylloxera-surviving vineyards from his father and planted new ones that remain today. He then rebuilt an old winery and began his wine adventure. The old building eventually decayed. In 2001, seeing renovation as impossible, David Forcada built a new winery with modern technological facilities, now capable of processing around a million kilos of grapes.
