ILURCE winery was founded in 1940 in Alfaro, in the heart of eastern Rioja.
Run by the fourth generation of winemakers, holding a true treasure: over forty-five hectares of exceptional old-vine vineyards for which they thank the land every day. “ILURCE are our wines: wines speaking of the soil and the passion tied to it; wines created to remain in our thoughts, leaving a lasting memory of a family whose life revolves around wine.”
The Escudero ancestors have been growing vines since time immemorial, but it was great-grandfather Juan Escudero who began making wine in Grávalos around 1850. In 1940, grandfather Amador Escudero bought a winery in Alfaro. It was the family home where they lived and worked until 2010, when they moved to the current winery. Amador Escudero Abad created the ILURCE brand in 1994.
In 2010, they began operating in a newly built winery. Currently run by the fourth generation of the Escudero family, applying the latest technological advancements while maintaining passed-down traditions.
