Santalba winery

Bodegas Santalba is a traditional family winery from Rioja Alta successfully combining long family experience with modern trends, including organic farming and natural wines. Founded over 25 years ago by Santiago Ijalba, who has over 50 years of experience in making great Rioja wines dating back to 1964. The name Santalba is a fusion of his first name and surname (Santiago Ijalba).

The winery is a pure family business, involving the founder's children: Roberto Ijalba (oenologist and winemaker) and Laura Ijalba Pérez (communications). Santalba is based on honesty, top-quality grapes and creating wines with individual character that truly taste like Rioja. They are known for their long-aged wines (reservas).

The winery has recently expanded its range with the "Que Vida" line, named after an informal greeting in Rioja Alta meaning "What's new?" This range presents a modern, fresh style of Rioja with minimal intervention, organic grapes and no added sulfur. It responds to growing demand for natural and cosechero wines intended to be enjoyed young.
